HERRIN -- Herrin Elementary doubled as a hair salon this Thursday.

The school held a hair cut drive for more than 20 students who wanted to donate to Locks of Love. Locks of Love is a national program that makes wigs for kids who've lost their hair. Local beauticians volunteered to do the cuts .

Teachers say it's great way to teach the students about giving.

"You should always do for others. Treat others as you want to be treated yourself. So just be charitable. It makes us all better citizens," says fourth grade teacher Marti Sutton.

A few adults came to took part as well. The school more than doubled its goal of 10 donations.
