WILLIAMSON COUNTY -- Herrin was also full of 4th of July revelers. Dozens spent the day at the city park, where the fireworks delighted the crowds yet again.

Call it what you want; America's birthday, 4th of July, Independence day. The people of southern illinois sure know how to enjoy it.

"Just coming out and having a good time out here, playing volleyball
for the first time in 30 years," Angela Chambers enthused.

She was all smiles as she continued her family's tradition of grilling out, playing sports, and bringing her loved ones together.

"Just being out here enjoying the day. Freedom, Independence Day, and just thinking about all the men and women that sacrificed their lives for us. You know, it means a great deal for me," she explained.

Live music kicked off the nighttime festivities. Local artists took the stage, while others enjoyed delicious treats from the concession stand. All waiting for the main attraction.

"You get to see amazing fireworks," Trysta Charlot added.

A beautiful display of colors illuminated the sky. Fireworks marked the end of another July 4th.

As Dylan Moore took it all in, he said he's grateful to live in the land of the free, because of the brave.

"While the hotdogs and fireworks are all really good things, it's about America and how really good that we have it and it's also a really good time to remember the people who fought for our ability to have the freedom," said Moore.
