Harrisburg Man Sentenced to 30 Years

HARRISBURG -- A Harrisburg man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child.

Eric G. Nichols, 42, pleaded guilty and was sentenced Thursday to two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

Nichols was charged in January after an investigation by the Illinois State Police.

In addition to his prison term, Nichols will serve at least 3 years mandatory supervised release and be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
