Former DMV Employee Convicted of Sexual Abuse
MARION -- A former DMV employee has been convicted of inappropriately touching teen girls during driving exams.
Nathan Hopkins, 39, of Marion, was found guilty Thursday of two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, two counts of officials misconduct and one count of disorderly conduct.
Hopkins, a former employee of the Illinois Secretary of State driving facility in Marion, was arrested in June 2010.
Authorities said Hopkins made sexual advances and inappropriately touched two teen girls during their driving tests. According to prosecutors, two additional girls also testified to similar behavior during their driving exams.
Hopkins is currently being held in the Williamson County Jail pending a sentencing hearing on February 14.
