Fatal Fire Under Investigation in Pittsburg

PITTSBURG -- The Williamson County Coroner says Jeffrey Glover died in Wednesday afternoon's fire.

Glover was pronnounced dead at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday. The fire was first reported around 4:30 p.m.  

UPDATED 7:40 p.m. Wednesday August 20

PITTSBURG -- The Williamson County Coroner confirms a 48-year-old man was killed in the fire Wednesday afternoon. The victim's name is not being released at this time.

The coroner will perform an autopsy Thursday.

The Illinois Fire Marshal's Office, Williamson County Sheriff's Office and the Williamson County Coroner's Office are investigating the fire.

The fire was small and contained to one room. Pittsburg Fire officials say smoking may have played a roll in the fire.

ORIGINAL STORY

PITTSBURG -- Crews from multiple departments responded to a fire at the intersection of Avery Ave. and Ervin St. in Pittsburg Wednesday night.

News 3 was on scene as crews cleared the scene around 7:15 p.m.. The property owner said a man had been renting the home for about six months.
 
There's been no official information released about the fire so far, including whether anyone was injured.
