WSIL -- Two people arrested after a kidnapping investigation appeared in New Madrid County, Missouri court on Monday.

Courtney Godwin pled guilty to misdemeanor tampering with a motor vehicle and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. A judge sentenced Godwin to 10 days in jail on each charge, with both sentences running at the same time. The judge also gave her credit for time served.

Sonny Pilgrim was arraigned on felony charges of tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest. He's scheduled to appear in court August 7.

Pilgrim also faces charges in Saline County of kidnapping, armed robbery, and unlawful possesion of a converted vehicle.

The charges stem from an incident July 23, when police say Pilgrim abducted Godwin from her step-grandparents' home in Eldorado. They were arrested the next day at a truck stop in southeast Missouri.
