CAMBRIA -- Cambria is holding off on a proposal to annex Walker's Bluff winery. Village leaders plan to do more research on the issue first.

A 1977 referendum prohibits the sale of alcohol in Cambria. According to the board's legal team, that referendum is still in affect.

But the village could still annex Walker's Bluff  without allowing alcohol sales anywhere else in town.

"State law allows that if an area is annexed even though you're a dry community, if an area is annexed and has existing liquor licenses that they can maintain those liquor licenses, so what it amounts to is we can annex Walker's Bluff and keep the community. So basically, nothing changes," said Jim Manis, Cambria Police Commissioner.

The village has now formed an annexation committee to address specific questions and concerns. The group will meet for the first time on Monday.
