MARION -- Drivers in Marion are urged to use caution around the town square.

Road crews have started to fix the sidewalk on the northwest side of Tower Square. Workers are repairing a hollow space underneath the walk.

Mayor Bob Butler says it's part of an ongoing project to fix deteriorated areas around the square

"It's an inconvenience at this point in time, particularly for vehicle operators, but what we're doing is for their safety as much as anything."
Mayor Butler says crews should finish work in a few days. Drivers are advised to slow down or take another route.
