Crews Bring Down Unstable Wall in Zeigler

By WSIL Reporter

ZEIGLER -- Part of the Zeigler Circle was shut down Wednesday evening after crews had to tear down part of an unstable building.

City leaders say water got into the wall of the old Stotler-Herrin Lumber Building and caused it to buckle. Engineers decided the wall was unsafe and needed to brought down. More work is expected over the next few days, which means traffic will be restricted in that area.
No nearby buildings were damaged.
Mayor Dennis Mitchell says a doctor in Carterville owns the building and had planned to turn it into therapy center.
