CARTERVILLE-- A John A Logan College student organization hosted its first ever car show Saturday afternoon.

The student chapter of the American Welding Society coordinated the event to raise money for the Fisher House Foundation. The charity has a network of homes around the country for military members and their families to stay in while receiving medical care.

The foundation has served more than 180-thousand families.

J.D. Tremblay is a veteran himself and says the event really hits close to home.

"I'm a Iraqi war veteran; we have Afghan veterans in our program. We came home without wounds and we wanted to do something for the ones that didn't."
