Civil War Exhibit Comes to SIU

By WSIL Reporter

CARBONDALE - The country is marking the 150th anniversary of the Civil War and a traveling exhibit will honor local veterans.

The exhibit opened Monday on the SIU campus. From now through the middle of May you can stop by Morris Library to browse through letters and pictures from the war.

Much of the content of the exhibit is from Southern Illinois soldiers.

SIU Research Specialist, Aaron Lisec says they have a number of great civil war collections, letters, manuscripts and have put together an exhibit giving some highlights.

The library will also host speakers on the civil war this Friday, and again on May 9th.

Those speakers and the traveling exhibit are free and open to the public.
