JOHNSTON CITY -- Johnston City residents were packing into the fire department Saturday for the ninth annual all you can eat Chili dinner. Organizers say roughly 200 folks showed up to the event.

While there were also hotdogs and drinks, the main chili course was made and served up by the Johnston City's volunteer firefighters. Their wives made the desserts.

"We not only serve them as fireman, when they come to our chili dinner we serve them while they're here. We go from table to table, if they need something else they do not have to get up and come to us, we go to them," explains Johnston City Assistant Fire Chief Greg Jennings.

Jennings says they raised about $1,000. That's enough to purchase a new jacket, pants, and boots.
