CARTERVILLE -- A routine patrol of the John A. Logan College campus leads to the arrest of a Carterville man.

It happened around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday. The John A. Logan Campus Police Department says an officer discovered drugs and three handguns during a search of a vehicle parked at the college.

Brockton B. Collins, 23, of Carterville, was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance. Collins was taken to the Williamson County Jail where he later posted $500 bond and was released.

A woman in the vehicle was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal transportation of alcohol and given a notice to appear in court.

Spokesman Steve O'Keefe says neither person is a student at John A. Logan College. O'Keefe tells News 3 that while the college is not open 24-hours a day, the campus is patrolled around the clock.
