CARBONDALE -- Community leaders from Carbondale gathered together Saturday morning for the ninth Annual Neighborhood Alliance Meeting. The event brings together dozens of neighborhood and city groups to report on city progress over the past year.

There were presentations from neighborhood watch groups, the Make Carbondale Beautiful organization and the park district. Organizers say purpose is to preserve and revitalize Carbondale's Neighborhoods and to work on solutions to community issue

"This is a nice way for us to sit in a casual setting and come together, network, talk to each other, and see what's important," says committee member Daniel Presley.

This year's theme was "perseverance". The event honored individuals and groups who have helped bring community projects to life and helped solve local problems.
