Carbondale Man Sentenced to Five Years

CARBONDALE -- Jackson County State's Attorney Mike Carr said today that Tommie L. Pirtle, 36, of Carbondale, was sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for delivery of heroin in Carbondale. 

Officers from Carbondale Police Department's Drug Task Force used a confidential source and purchased heroin from from Pirtle on February 19, 2014. The purchase involved less than 1 gram of heroin. 
This sentence is a day for day sentence, meaning that he will get one day off of his sentence for every day he serves without any violations of Department of Correction's rules. The defendant will also receive credit for 84 days already served prior to his sentence.
