WSIL -- A Carbondale man has pleaded guilty to federal drug charges.

Eric Scott Russell, 48, pleaded guilty Friday to a two-count indictment charging him with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine and distribution of crack cocaine.

The crimes occurred between 2012 and 2013 in Jackson and Williamson Counties. Prosecutors say Russell sold crack cocaine to a person working for law enforcement.

Russell is being held without bond pending a sentencing hearing on Dec. 3. He faces up to 20 years in prison on each count and a $1 million fine.

A second defendant in the case, Albert Wesley, had previously pleaded guilty and is also awaiting sentencing.

The Carbondale Police Department, Murphysboro Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff's Office and DEA handled the investigation.
