CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Cape Girardeau Police say Tommy Joe Davis, III has been arrested in Illinois. No other information is available at this time.

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Authorities have identified the suspect in an early morning shooting in Cape Girardeau.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Tommy Joe Davis, III, 29, of Cape Girardeau. Davis is wanted for first degree assault and armed criminal action.

Authorities went to Davis' home on Amblewood Street shortly after the shooting around 5 a.m. Wednesday. Officers were on scene for approximately six hours. Sergeant Jason Selzer with the Cape Girardeau Police Department says two people were inside the home, but Davis was not there.

A $250,000 cash bond has been set for Davis.

 

ORIGINAL STORY

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Authorities have blocked off a portion of Amblewood Street in Cape Girardeau as part of their investigation into an early morning shooting.

Officers were called to 523 Olive Street around 5 a.m. Wednesday for a man who had been shot in the stomach. Information from those on scene led officers to the 1300 block of Amblewood Street. Cape Girardeau Police say the shooting suspect is believed to be in that area. 
 
The police department is asking everyone to avoid the area at this time. 
 
The shooting victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
