Burnout Contest Closes Street Machines Nationals
DU QUOIN -- Street Machine Nationals wrapped up Sunday afternoon in Perry County, but not before holding one of its most popular attractions.
The Burnout Contest drew in about 3,000 spectators. 10 drivers spun their tires in the contest with the goal of gaining the most cheers and hollers from the crowd. The winner was determined by a decibel meter, which measured the crowd's response to each car.
"It's just kind of part of America, I guess if you will. You got all these American-made vehicles and just all the history, and that's kind of what
we're all about," says Matthew Louck, the Vice President of Marketing for Family Events.
Tony Delio from Rantoul, Illinois took first place with his '78 Trans AM.
