Bank Robbery in Murphysboro

MURPHYSBORO -- Police continue to search for a man who robbed Old National Bank in Murphysboro Wednesday.

It happened around noon at the bank on Walnut Street.

Murphysboro Police say a man armed with a handgun demanded money then fled with the cash.

He was last seen running south near the 200 block of S. 17th Street wearing a white hoodie with red and orange stripes.

Police say the suspect is 5'7" to 5'10" tall and approximately 160-180 pounds, but they cannot confirm his race or approximate age.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the Murphysboro Police Department at 684-5244.

MURPHYSBORO -- Police are investigating a robbery at a Murphysboro bank.

It happened just after 12 p.m. at Old National Bank on Walnut Street.

Authorities are currently searching for a person in the area around the bank.

Murphysboro Police, Carbondale Police, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and Secretary of State Police are all on scene.
