WILLIAMSON CO. -- More than a hundred golfers hit the links Saturday to honor a Carterville boy who died from brain cancer.

The Austin Wade Golf Scramble was back for another year at the Pine Lakes Golf Course.

Austin was diagnosed with cancer in September 2010 and lost his battle in February of 2012. The family uses the fundraiser to give back to other families facing a cancer diagnosis.

"There's so much involved with having a child with cancer," said Denise Diercks, Austin's mom. "So many extra expenses nobody would think of that we just want to be able to help as many as possible."

This is the third year for the scramble, and it has doubled in size from the first fundraiser. So far, the Austin Wade Foundation has been able to help 10 kids with cancer.
