MAKANDA -- If you were looking for some local art and entrainment Saturday, Jackson County was the place to be. Makanda hosted it's annual Spring Fest, a long-running tradition for the community.

Artists from the surrounding area had their work on display for viewing and purchase. Organizers say their community is a haven for artists and  they want to support them as much as possible.

Christina Brown is an organic soap vendor from Troy. She says, "The person selling it is usually the person that made it."

She said she enjoys coming out to see other people's passions and share support.

Local resident Devin Vandersluis says, "A lot of artwork gets done here on the boardwalk, and it's what they really thrive on around here."

There was also live music playing at the pavilion and in the Rainmakers Garden. Spring Fest continues on Sunday.
