Investors Compete for Medical Marijuana Business

By WSIL Reporter

WSIL--  While the new marijuana law hasn't kicked in yet , some politically connected investors want to be first on the scene.

People like Sam Borek , have already reserved at least three dozen marijuana-related business names. Borek was a college roommate of the lawmaker who sponsored the bill.

There's also David Rosen , a fundraising champion for Democrats.  Rosen has also registered a business name.

Reserving the names gives owners the ability to cash in on the business by selling the name or opening up their own.

The new law allows 22 pot growing centers and 60 dispensaries.
