Accident on Interstate 57

JEFFERSON COUNTY -- State Police have identified the two people killed in Tuesday afternoon's wreck and now say four people suffered incapacitating injuries from the crash.
Jill Gibson, 49, of Hopkinsville, KY, and a 13-year-old male, also of Hopkinsville, KY, riding in the SUV were killed in the crash.
The driver, Megan Michelle Hester, 22, of Maryland Heights, MO, along with three other passengers, Benjamin Hester (age unknown), of Maryland Heights, MO; Chris Gibson, 41; and an 11-year-old male, both of Hopkinsville, KY, suffered incapacitating injuries from the accident.
The driver of the semi was unharmed.
Illinois State Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident.

JEFFERSON COUNTY -- State Police say two people are dead after an accident this afternoon on Interstate 57.
Illinois State Police say it happened at 12:40 p.m. on Interstate 57 near mile marker 81.
A preliminary investigation found that an SUV traveling southbound on I-57, for an unknown reason, crossed the median and collided with a semi on northbound 57.
The names of the victims are not being released at this time, pending family notification. It's not clear which vehicle(s) those victims were in at the time of the crash.
Illinois State Police are investigating the incident.
JEFFERSON COUNTY -- An accident briefly shut down a portion of Interstate 57 this afternoon.
First reports of the accident began coming in around one this afternoon. The accident between a semi truck and an SUV occurred near the Ina exit of Northbound Interstate 57. Police aren't releasing much information at this time.
A News 3 crew on scene says there appears to be at least one fatality and multiple injuries; however, officials have not confirmed any fatalities or deaths.
