$8.8 Million for Construction Projects in Southern Illinois

WSIL -- The state has announced $8.8 million for construction projects in 12 southern Illinois counties.

The projects are funded through the Illinois Jobs Now! program.


Alexander County

Illinois Route 3 will receive 4.53 miles of resurfacing, aggregate shoulders, pavement patching, paint pavement marking and reflective pavement markers from south of Illinois Route 127 to west of the I-57 ramp for $1,242,495 by E. T. Simonds Construction Company of Carbondale.


Franklin County

The roofing systems at Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park will be repaired and replaced for $63,023 by D.E. Martin Roofing Company, Inc. of Lebanon, the lowest of four bidders. The project will be managed by the Illinois Capital Development Board.

Illinois Route 149 will receive patching and partial depth patching in West Frankfort from Joiner Street to Ken Gray Boulevard, as well as pavement removal and replacement, and curb and gutter removal and replacement at the southbound and northbound I-57 rest areas for $282,494 by E. T. Simonds Construction Company of Carbondale, the lower of two bidders.


Gallatin County

Illinois Route 13 will receive pavement and shoulder replacement on the westbound lane on either side of Illinois Route 1 for $612,845 by E. T. Simonds Construction Company of Carbondale, the lower of two bidders.


Hardin County

Illinois Route 34 will receive 2.13 miles of milling and inlay surfacing, aggregate shoulders, pavement marking and raised reflective pavement markers through Rosiclare for $383,649 by Southern Illinois Asphalt Co., Inc. of Marion, the lower of two bidders.


Jackson and Perry Counties

Bridge decks at 60 locations will receive sealing for $104,534 by All States Painting, Inc. of Alexander, the lowest of four bidders.


Jefferson County

The bridge carrying Illinois Route 15 over Rayes Creek will receive a new three span bridge and approach work for $669,386 by Dees, Inc. of West Frankfort, the lowest of four bidders.


Johnson County

U.S. 45 will receive 4 miles of pavement patching and markings, resurfacing, shoulder work and raised reflective pavement markers from 1.8 miles south of Illinois Route 148 to the Massac County Line for $925,203 by Southern Illinois Asphalt Co., Inc. of Marion.

Illinois Route 37 will receive 9.02 miles of milling, surfacing, aggregate shoulders, patching, pavement marking and raised reflective pavement markers from the Illinois Route 146 intersection south to the Pulaski County Line for $2,355,390 by Southern Illinois Asphalt Co., Inc. of Marion.


Marion County

Illinois 161 will receive 1.43 miles of resurfacing from west of I-57 to Illinois Route 37 for $916,340 by Howell Paving, Inc. of Mattoon.


Massac County

The roofing systems at Mermet Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area will be repaired and replaced for $87,596 by D.E. Martin Roofing Company, Inc. of Lebanon, the lower of two bidders. The project will be managed by the Illinois Capital Development Board.


Pulaski County

Illinois Route 37 will receive 3.61 miles of resurfacing, aggregate shoulders and striping from IL 169 to Grand Chain Road for $489,059 by E. T. Simonds Construction Company of Carbondale, the lower of two bidders.


Wayne County

The intersection of U.S. 45 and Illinois Route 15 will receive pavement patching, resurfacing and marking for $685,586 by Howell Paving, Inc. of Mattoon.
