17th Annual Irish Festival
CARBONDALE -- The popular Irish Festival is taking place in Carbondale this weekend and hundreds of people are stopping by, despite the unpleasant weather.
It's the 17th year for the festival at Turley Park, complete with two stages for live entertainment, the Scottish Highland games, bagpipe demonstrations, and plenty of characters running around in green and white. Event organizers even brought in some traditional Irish dancers.
"The traditional Irish dancing is what the kids from St. Louis are doing. They come every year and really enrich the program with the traditional Irish distinctive dancing, which people know it as river dance, but it's been going a long time before that came around," explains Irish Festival Board President Bryan Kelso Crow.
The festival continues on Sunday from 11a.m. until 5p.m.
