10th Annual Clothes for Kids
HARRISBURG -- The Fowler-Bonan Foundation is at work again, raising money to buy new wardrobes for children in need.
Dozens of children took to the greens Wednesday in Harrisburg for the 10th annual Clothes for Kids golf scramble. Since 2004, the event has raised money to provide new clothes and shoes for more than a thousand children in our area.
Co-founder Dale Fowler says that over the years the event has grown beyond their dreams.
"The initial focus was to be able to have this event and just to be able to help four or five children have the opportunity to wear new shoes and clothes to school, and now we are ten years later helping over 400 children in 12 southern Illinois counties," he said.
Because of that growing success, tomorrow there will be a second round of golf for children and teens ages 11 to 18.
