CARTERVILLE  --  Some kids across our region will be part of the first class to attend Carterville Christian Preparatory Academy.

The school should be ready in time for this fall as the renovations come along and they hire the last few staff members.

Enrollment is now open for Pre-K through 5th grade.

The school will focus on providing a well-rounded, hands on education with class sizes capped at 15 students.

Founder, Merlin Pyrtle, says the idea to form the school came from families feeling that their children were slipping through the cracks of the traditional school system.

There is no religious requirement to be a part of Carterville Christian Preparatory Academy.

An open house will be held Sunday, June 29, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Monday, June 30, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
