Wawona Expands Fruit Recall
CNN -- The Wawona Packing Company in Cutler, California has announced it's expanding a voluntary recall of peaches, plums, nectarines and pluots. The fruit may be contaminated with a bacterium that can cause listeria.
The recall affects many top grocers, including Costco, Kroger, Trader Joe's and Walmart Corporation, which also operates Sam's Club.
The initial recall covered specific lots of fruit packed from June 1 through July 12. The company has expanded the recall "as a precautionary step" by five days, to fruit packaged through July 17.
Wawona said it has brought in experts to help with the investigation, and the company is working closely with U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
