Sam joined the news team in August 2013. She was raised in the suburbs of Chicago and is excited to be reporting on and living among the beauty of Southern Illinois.
Sam's always wanted to make a difference in the world, and reporting allows her to do just that. By combining her love of writing and public speaking, she is at home in telling people's stories. Her passion for journalism started in grade school when she created a newspaper for her class. Since then, she worked as the editor in chief of her high school and university papers. Sam graduated magna cum laude from Benedictine University with a bachelor's degree in communication arts.
Before coming to News 3, Sam worked for CBS 2 News in Chicago. There she was a field producer/news desk associate, covering everything from the NATO Summit to the Chicago Teacher's Strike.
Sam loves connecting with new people to tell a good story, so drop her a line anytime!
She's an avid reader and self-professed news junkie. In her free time, Sam enjoys spending time with her amazing family and friends, hiking, scrapbooking, and watching bad reality TV.
