Nick is the weekend meteorologist and a multi-media journalist at News 3. He has always been somewhat familiar with Southern Illinois as he grew up in Festus, Missouri, just to the northwest of the viewing area and has family near Fredericktown, Missouri.
Nick began working at WSIL in June of 2011 soon after graduating from the University of Missouri with a degree in Atmosphere Science. He sharpened his skills before working at WSIL by interning at KOMU in Columbia, Missouri and KPLR in St. Louis.
Nick has wanted to be a broadcast meteorologist since he was in Kindergarten after a small tornado caused damage around his hometown of Festus. He pursued his passion at Mizzou and was even brave enough to be a storm chaser. He has seen it all from tornadoes, including an EF-5, to blizzards. Nick loves the weather but can often be seen reporting on outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, or shooting high school football games.
Nick is excited to be in Southern Illinois to forecast the wide variety of weather and be close to family. When Nick needs a break from the weather he likes to hunt deer and waterfowl, fish, run, spend time at the gym, and hangout with friends. He is a passionate St. Louis Cardinals and Missouri Tigers fan and can often be found watching his favorite teams in person and on television.
