Two Injured In Vehicle Crash in Old Shawneetown
GALLATIN CO. - Two people were seriously injured in a car crash early Sunday morning. The crash happened about 1 a.m. on Old Route 13, west of Popular street, in Old Shawneetown.
Zachary S. Holloway, 20, of Shawneetown, lost control of the 2005 Kia Rio he was driving. The vehicle went off the roadway and overturned, according to Illinois State Police.
Holloway and his passenger, Lacey D. Jones, 25, of Shawneetown, were taken to Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado for treatment of their injuries. Holloway was later sent to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
State Police believe Holloway was driving drunk. He was cited for DUI, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, improper lane usage, no proof of insurance, illegal transportation of alcohol, expired registration sticker and for not wearing a seat belt.
Jones was also ticketed for providing alcohol to a minor, illegal transportation of alcohol and not wearing a seat belt.
