Prayer Vigil for Florida Explosion Victims
MARION -- Dozens of people gathered in Marion Sunday night to pray for three southern Illinois men who were involved in a Florida explosion last weekend. Luis Lopez, Michael Brower, and John Brower were vacationing in Destin, Florida when an explosion shook Lopez's vacation home.
Michael was killed, John suffered minor burns, and Luis, a well-know Marion pediatrician, was severely injured. So friends and family gathered to play music and pray with one another in a vigil.
The organizer says she's been taking her children to Lopez's clinic for six years and hope he recovers soon.
"These kids in southern Illinois need him we need him to come home and recovery quickly and get home to our children so he can you know finish taking care of them," explains Pearl Gutierrez.
Doctor Lopez remains in critical condition at Sacred Heart Hospital in Florida.
