Fires Destroy Williamson County Homes
WILLIAMSON CO. -- Fires kept Williamson County firefighters busy early Saturday morning. Now, there is nothing but ash and rubble where two houses once stood.
The house fire on the 18-thousand block of Freeman Spur road was fully involved when fire crews arrived on the scene. They got the call just before 3 a.m. No one was living in the home at the time, but it's the same location of a murder scene back in 2011. Charles James was murdered in the driveway, and his girlfriend survived a shot to the head.
Fire officials say though the house was vacant and utilities were not turned on, they are not going to investigate the cause of the fire.
The second house fire happened in Colp, just after midnight. Carterville firefighters say the home on the intersection of Martin Luther King and Ferguson Streets was also fully engulfed in flames by the time they arrived.
Williamson County fire officials say this home was also vacant with no power running to the home, and will not be investigated.
