Armed Robbery in Mt. Vernon

MT. VERNON -- Police in Mt. Vernon have released a few more details about an armed robbery Friday night.

It happened just after 9 p.m. at the Dollar General in the 400 block of Broadway.

Mt. Vernon Police Chief Chris Mendenall says a white man, believed to be in his fifties, with a thin build entered the store with a handgun and demanded money.

No one was injured.

Police continue to investigate. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Mt. Vernon Police Department at (618) 242-2727.

MT. VERNON -- Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Dollar General store.

Mt. Vernon Police Chief Chris Mendenall says the hold up happened a little after 9 o'clock on Friday evening.  

It was at the Dollar General in the 400 block of Broadway, just east of downtown Mt. Vernon.
 
Late Friday, police were not releasing any other details on the crime or a suspect, as the investigation continued.
