Location: Bleyer Lake (is located 1.5 miles), Carbondale, IL

Event Description

Over 1,600 Special Population youngsters & adults, volunteers, and staff will line the shores of Bleyer Lake for this event. They will spend the day fishing and will be provided a picnic lunch. All of the fishing equipment is provided free of charge to the participants.
The participants will come from Southern Illinois schools and sheltered
workshops in Jackson, Williamson, Union and other surrounding counties.

The event begins at 9:00 am and concludes at 2:00 pm.
The Fishing Expedition for Special Populations began 29 years ago, and is sponsored by Frank Bleyer, The Bank of Carbondale, and Mountain Valley Water.
Hundreds of volunteers from area schools, civic organizations and the
community generously donate their time to help with this event each year.
