What's Making You Sick (Week of April 21)

Story Updated: Apr 22, 2013

WSIL -- It seems allergies are making a huge comeback in our region.

Doctor William Hays from Herrin is seeing a lot of allergy sufferers right now. In fact, he says allergies have returned to southern Illinois with a vengeance.

Doctor Hays is also treating acute respiratory infections.
He says they start off as sinusitis and take up to 10 days to resolve. The illness is accompanied by fever and aches. Doctor Hays has also had a couple cases of strep throat in the last week or so.

Students at Carbondale High School have been under the weather. The nurse at the Terrier Care program tells me that there are some students out with mono. Seasonal allergies are causing problems for students, faculty, and staff at the high school.

Facebook friends are sneezing and wheezing again with spring allergies. Sinus problems are also plaguing our viewers. Upper respiratory infections and even a case of bronchitis are keeping people under the weather.

My Uncle is suffering from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. So that's going around Western Kentucky. Anyone with a tick bite needs to beware.
