SIRG is the only women’s flat track roller derby league in Southern Illinois and have been skating hard, turning left, and donating to charity since their inception in 2009. Over their brief break in December, the girls recruited skaters, redesigned their website, and made a ton of plans for the coming year. The biggest plan was, of course, their bouting schedule for the coming season. The girls first take the track for the season on February 8th during their annual St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. After that, there are plans to go up against girls from all over the Midwest. The rest of their schedule, as well as their new year's resolutions, can be seen at the newly-redesigned website.Return to event list.
In addition to their bouting schedule, the girls have been busily planning a fundraising trivia tournament for February 15th (details to be posted on the website), and working on their 4th annual “Girl Scout Derby Day” during which local girl scouts get to strap on skates and be roller girls for a day. The girls are also fundraising for the Special Olympics through the Polar Plunge and making plans to participate in the Southern Illinois AIDS walk.
