One of the greatest challenges for sheep and goat producers is preventing and controlling internal parasites in their animals. This workshop will start with the basics of understanding parasite life cycles and then give tips on how to better manage sheep and goats to prevent internal parasite infections.Return to event list.
University of Illinois Extension is hosting a Parasite Prevention and Control Strategies Training on Thursday, January 23 at the high school in Thompsonville, IL and Wednesday, January 29 at the UI Extension office located at 515 E. Vienna St., Suite G in Anna, IL. Both programs will start promptly at 6:00 PM.
The training will give producers a better understanding of the life cycle of internal parasites, teach producers how to prevent internal parasite infections, and teach producers how to identify animals that may be anemic and likely need treatment with deworming products.
Advanced registration is required; Thompsonville is January 20 and Anna is January 24. A $10 per person registration fee includes all lab supplies and program materials. There is a limit of 20 persons, so early registration is encouraged. For details or to register, contact Teresa Steckler at 618-695-4917, website, or the Franklin County Extension at 618-439-3178.
