Southern Illinois University Environmental Ambassador Award

SIU Students who provide 30 or more hours during an academic year for projects in support of the environment & sustainability qualify for the "SIU Environmental Ambassador Award". The honorary title Environmental Ambassador is bestowed by the Chancellor and the SIU Sustainability Council with the presentation of a plaque commemorating the award just before graduation in the spring.Return to event list.
All such volunteer hours must be documents on Saluki Volunteer Corps forms:
Volunteering in support of the following organizations has been deemed to qualify: Shawnee National Forest; Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge; Green Earth of Carbondale; the Local Organic Gardening Coalition of Carbondale; Rend Lake/US Army Corps of Engineers; Giant City State Park; Touch of Nature Environmental Center; Keep Carbondale Beautiful; Free Again Wildlife Rehabilitation; & SIU. *Conservation Fair @ Du Quoin Fairgrounds

Conservation Fair at DuQuion State Fairgrounds Tue, October 1, 12am – Fri, October 4, 12am Description Approximately 3,000 students from grades K through 6th go to different stations to learn about the environment. Presenters can choose age group and the days to present (do not have to sign up for all 3 days. Hosted by USDA, NRCS & IDNR.
*Green Earth of Carbondale, Native Plant Sale
Saturday, October 5th, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Green Earth of Carbondale will be offering native plants (shrubs, perennials, grasses and sedges) along with Keep Carbondale Beautiful's native trees at the Murdale Shopping Center. Pre-orders (available on our website starting the week of Sept. 16th http://www.greenearthinc.org/ ) may be picked up the day of the sale or held for later pick up.
