Brehm Preparatory School, one of the nation’s leading schools for children with learning disabilities, will host the 2013 Harvard Medical School/Dyslexia Foundation Teleconference. It is geared towards teachers, professionals, administrators, parents, and others who want to hear the latest information on practical application and scientific foundations on literacy, reading and dyslexia. This conference is eligible for Illinois State Board of Education CPDUs. Forms will be available on-site. The Dyslexia Foundation is sponsoring this yearly event. The title of this year’s conference is “ADHD and Dyslexia in School-aged Children: Defining, Evaluating, and Educating.” Topics covered will include:Return to event list.

Speakers at the conference include Actress Bella Thorne; Dr. Glenn Rosen, director of The Dyslexia Lab at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and associate professor at Harvard Medical School; Dr. Al Galaburda, neuroscientist at Harvard Medical School; Dr. David Urion, neurologist at Boston Children’s Hospital; Dr. Erik Willcutt with the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Colorado; Dr. Margie Gillis, president of Literacy How, Inc.; and Dr. Joan Mele-McCarthy, head of The Summit School.
The conference will take place at the Joseph B. Martin Conference Center Harvard Medical School, however Brehm Preparatory School will be the only satellite location in the Midwest that will be hosting live feeds directly from this Harvard event.
The fee to attend the teleconference is $20, which includes lunch, or $15 without lunch. There is an additional fee of $25 for those who wish to receive ISBE CPDUs.
