Celebrate Smokey Bear’s 69th Birthday

Known for his work in helping to remind the public that “Only you can prevent wildfires,” Smokey Bear is one of the most recognized symbols in the country and the focal point of the longest running public service announcement (PSA) in American history. Friday, August 9th marks a special day for Smokey as he will be celebrating his 69th birthday. In celebration, the public is invited to come out and meet the birthday bear himself, get a hug and snap a photo! Joining Smokey will be Gala Goldsmith, Acting Forest Supervisor. She joins the Shawnee from the Wayne National Forest and will be on hand to help celebrate and meet/greet the public too.
