SSM Hospice of the Good Samaritan to Host Children’s Grief Camp: Camp MAGIC

SSM Hospice of the Good Samaritan will host its first grief camp for children who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Camp MAGIC (Mending a Heart, Grief in Children) is a free, one-day grief retreat for children, ages 5-12.Return to event list.
Camp MAGIC is a safe environment where youngsters can openly express their feelings regarding the loss of a loved one, while having their fears or concerns addressed. Lori Reynolds, SSM Hospice Bereavement Coordinator, explained, “Throughout the day, the children will participate in special activities designed to facilitate positive coping techniques. In addition, Camp MAGIC will promote open communication among the children and their parents.”
Camp MAGIC is staffed by professionals and trained volunteers. Each child will be paired with a volunteer to provide companionship, support and supervision throughout the day. Professionals will conduct age appropriate activities on grief, loss and recovery.
