1st Ever Lusk Creek BBQ Cookoff

On Friday, May 17th and Saturday, May 18th, the Pope County Historical Society will hold its First Ever Lusk Creek BBQ Cook-Off and Raffle. This event is designed to raise money and awareness for the Pope County Historical Society and to fund the documentary “They Will Endure: Pope County, Illinois-A History” a compilation of work by the late Mildred B. McCormick. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Pope County Historical Society.Return to event list.
There will be live music, beer/wine garden, raffles, and most importantly BBQ. Armbands will be sold for entry into the event: $5.00-Friday only, $10.00-Saturday only, and $12.00-Friday and Saturday; children 10 and under enter for free.
The event opens at 5:30pm Friday, sausage and brats will be served, the beer/wine garden opens, and live local entertainment starts at 6pm. On Saturday, the event kicks off at 11am, those with an armband will be able to taste all the competitors BBQ, live local entertainment starts at 12, beer/wine garden opens at 11am, and the Pope County Historical Museum will be showcasing a preview the documentary.
There are also numerous other activities going on, so take the time and experience Golconda.
