15th Annual Nutrition 5K & Kid K Neighborhood Co-op Grocery's Race to Support the Good Samaritan Food Pantry & Soup Kitchen

Not only does the race raise much-needed funds for a great cause, but it combines live, local music, pre- and post-race massages, a great spread of healthy snacks and fruit as well as many prizes that get raffled off after the race. The race still remains a great value at $13 for Co-op owners and $15 for non-owners.Return to event list.
The course starts near the Pine Tree Pavilion at the park, winds through a scenic loop along the SIUC campus wood, and returns back to the park.
Money raised will go toward purchasing basic foods for Good Samaritan Ministries Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen.
For the Kids, we have three age-appropriate Kid K races. The Half-pint race is for 2 to 5 year olds (.31 miles); the True Blue race is for 6 to 8 year olds (.62 miles); and the Mile High if for 9 to 12 year olds and is three loops around the field. Registration for the Kid K is only $7, and those who sign up receive a Cheeky Monkey t-shirt. The Cheeky Monkey program at the Co-op is an effort to promote healthy eating habits in which children can enjoy a free apple or banana when in the store.
Registration for the adult race begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 8:45 a.m. The competitive run begins at 9 a.m. The Kid-K race begins at 9:45, and registration for that event ends at 9:30 a.m.

The race is $13 for Co-op owners who pre-register. After April 9, it will cost will be $15 to register, including the day of the race itself.
An awards ceremony will take place after the race, and while the results and times are being tabulated, prizes donated by local businesses will be raffled off.
All proceeds for the Co-op Nutirion 5K and Kid K go to help Good Samaritan Food Ministries. If possible, please bring a canned good as a donation.

We always have great, healthy and high quality samples from our vendors and we supply for organic fruits and snacks, along with Fair Trade coffee and tea, before and after the race. Mini-muffins made in the Co-op kitchen will be on hand as well.
RognboB will provide entertainment for those who are registering and prior to the awards ceremony once the race is over. Plus, free post-race massages will be given by students in the John A. Logan massage program.
