R. Buckminster “Bucky” Fuller, SIU Professor from 1959-1971, is arguably the most internationally renowned and significant public figure associated with SIU and Carbondale. He is considered by many to be the father of the modern sustainability movement and has also been hailed as the most influential futurist of the 21st century. The goal of Fuller Future Festival is to celebrate Carbondale’s unique Bucky legacy while furthering Fuller’s scholarship, studies and the application of his work in Carbondale and at SIU. Events will include presentations, discussions, solution building workshops, performances, poetry, music, comedy, unique exercises and even a parade.
The event will also feature unique artifacts. The Museum of Livingry will feature hundreds of rare Bucky-related artifacts, unique geodesic collectibles, pop-culture ephemera, toys, games and magazines on display in the Hall of Presidents and Chancellors from the end of March through April 2013.
