Diabetes Alert Day - Free Screening

On Diabetes Alert Day, Take Action to Find Out If You Are At Risk for Type 2 Diabetes and Take ‘Just One Step’ Toward Better Health and attend a FREE Screening if you are at risk.Return to event list.
In support of American Diabetes Association Alert Day® (Tuesday, March 26), the National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP), Jackson County Diabetes Today Resource Team, Health Ministries of the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale, Jackson County Health Department, and Southern Illinois Healthcare are encouraging people to find out if they are at risk for type 2 diabetes. Join us for a FREE diabetes screening in honor of “Diabetes ALERT! Day.”
FREE screenings will include a Fasting Blood Sugar and a Lipid Panel and are available for:
• Women age 45 and over
• Men age 35 and over
• Anyone over 20 with increased risk, including:
o History of diabetes or heart disease in family
o High blood pressure
**Fast 10 hours before your screening.
Call the SIH Call Center to reserve an appointment time for your screening.
The NDEP has tools you can use to learn more about your risk for type 2 diabetes and steps you can take to delay or prevent this disease. Visit website to find some of the following:
• Diabetes Risk Test. This tool asks simple questions about weight, age, family history and other potential risks for prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.
• NDEP’s Family Health History Quiz asks four true/false questions to help people better understand their family health history of diabetes
