Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Illinois is March 3rd- 9th, 2013. As part of its activities for this week, the Jackson County Emergency Management Agency, in cooperation with local fire departments, has scheduled times to program NOAA emergency alert weather radios at multiple locations.Return to event list.
NOAA emergency alert weather radios activate to provide you with immediate information about life threatening events, giving you extra time to prepare and evacuate if necessary.
Personnel will be on hand to program resident’s weather radios with the code specific to Jackson County, which will allow the radio to activate when a weather watch or warning is issued for severe weather.
Residents that wish to have their radio programmed should bring it to one of the locations and ensure that it has a new or fresh battery.
The locations and times are:
Ava – Thursday, March 7th, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Ava Fire Station, 312 W. Main
DeSoto – Monday, March 4th , 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. DeSoto Fire Station, 210 W. Lincoln
Dowell – Wednesday, March 6th, 9a.m. – 11 a.m. 215 Union Ave.
Makanda – Wednesday, March 6th, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Makanda Fire Station #1, 5420 Old U.S. Hwy 51
