A topic for conservationists and the public alike: how can we conserve big cats today to help ensure their presence for tomorrow? Dr. Nielsen will discuss the numerous problems facing big cats (and large carnivores in general) and review potential solutions. He will draw from lessons from his own international research program, with special focus on studies of tigers in India and jaguars in Mexico.Return to event list.
Presenter Dr. Clay Nielsen is an Associate Professor of Forest Wildlife at the Cooperative Wildlife Research Laboratory, Department of Forestry, and Center for Ecology at Southern Illinois University. His research efforts have been showcased by major popular media outlets such as TIME magazine, National Geographic, NPR, the History Channel, and the Discovery Channel.
