Southern Illinois residents will step up to serve as volunteers on the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Volunteers will participate in the trail trash and graffiti cleanup of the Cove Hollow Trail, joining hundreds of thousands of Americans across the country in volunteer service. Event coordinators want to remind participates that this is an excellent opportunity to not only contribute to improving our natural areas in the region, but also to enjoy and learn about the area they are helping restore.Return to event list.
The annual event honors Dr. King’s legacy and is an opportunity for Americans to renew their own personal vows of citizenship through service to others. The MLK Day of Service coincides with the 57th Presidential Inauguration, which also includes a National Day of Service during the same weekend.
