Civil War Monument To Be Dedicated

Location: DuQuoin’s Keyes Park, DuQuoin, IL
Community leaders, residents of DuQuoin, Civil War re-enactors, and local clergy will come together to dedicate a memorial to those from DuQuoin who perished during the Civil War. After research by lifelong DuQuoin resident, Joe Stephens, it was found that 93 men from DuQuoin had died during the civil war.Return to event list.
The dedication ceremonies will begin at 9am with a re-enactors encampment, including the firing of a civil war era cannon every half hour until 12 noon. The ceremonies will begin with prayer at 12 noon, remarks by DuQuoin mayor John Rednour, and remarks by the chairman of the memorials organizing committee Joe Stephens. Also included in the ceremonies will be the reading of the events which transpired at the battle of Corinth, reading of the 93 names, a 21 gun salute, 3 shot cannon salute, flag placement on the memorial and the playing of taps.
Food and beverage will be made available with the proceeds benefiting the local chapter of the Future Farmers of America. The public is welcome to attend this event. For more information you may contact Joe Stephens at DuQuoin’s Keyes Park.
